Builders Update has released the second set of results of a study that sheds light on the relationships between real estate agents and home builders.  The latest part of the study was conducted over the past two months and over 80,000 real estate agents were surveyed. “Our goal was to learn more about why real estate agents make the choices they do,” said a Builders Update representative.

The study segmented real estate agents into two categories, those who regularly sell new homes and those who don’t.  Among those who sell new homes, the study focused on issues regarding buyer registration, the process by which an agent secures a commission in the event of a sale.  85.75% of all respondents said that they do not fully trust the current paper/card based method of buyer registration practiced by the overwhelming majority of builders. “We think this number is significant because it speaks directly to the fact that one third of agents report having had a conflict with a builder over a commission, a fact revealed in our last study”, said the BU rep. The study further examined alternatives to the current buyer registration system and discovered that 89.05% of agents would use electronic buyer registration through a third party system.
